I started hiking in September of 1996. I was depressed because I had been worrying over stupid personal problems and Julie and Rosalie dragged me out and we climbed Mt. Si in North Bend. If you watched "Twin Peaks," you know what the mountain looks like. It's a big guardian rock looming over the town. It's pretty cool from a distance. As a hike, it leaves a little to be desired in the aesthetics department. But what did I know of hiking? It got me hooked. Since then, I have gone as often as possible and seen some incredible places and seriously tired myself out! That year, I hiked as much as I could until winter and I took lots of pictures, some of which are included on the linked pages. The year after that, I hiked only Mt. Si and Mt. Forgotten because I was helping a friend build a house. In the summer of 1998, I got back into it every weekend. Starting around October, I took some time off from hiking because of weather. Winter, snow, ice, you know. Then, I got fed up and decided I need to get rid of that protective layer of blubber I formed over that holiday season at the end of the year. First hike of 1999--Mt. Si, of course. I hate slipping and sliding on snow, so I got crampons. Then I got snowshoes, because I want to go somewhere other than Mt. Si. My hiking season is now 12 months a year! Yay! So I am trying to reorganize my hiking pages and add a little detail rather than just having a picture or two and leaving it at that. The pictures are not going to be full-size because I have limited storage on AOL, so if you want full size versions of any of them, let me know which page and picture and I will try to e-mail them to you. I have found that if you are on AOL, the pictures will look a little grainy and weird. They look better if you have a Netscape browser. Surprised? I seem to have no concept of time, but here's a list of hikes with dates that are probably pretty close. Gothic Basin, Del Campo, 1996 and 1998 Melakwa Lake, Denny Creek, 1996 and August 1998 Dickerman Mountain October 1996 Green Mountain October 1996 Forgotten, August 1997 Hidden Lake Peak, 1997 Skyline Divide, August 1998 Three Fingers, September 1998 Granite Mountain, February 14, 1999 Annette Lake, February 21, 1999 West Fork Foss Lake Trail, March 1999 | |||||||||||||||||||||||
